Pre-treatment – Preparation before orthodontics
Certain types of defects are best corrected with a specific type of appliance before the braces or aligners are fitted. This procedure greatly reduces the problem and makes subsequent treatment much easier and faster. However, correct timing is essential, which is why early diagnosis of orthodontic defects is very important.
Foil appliance – Invisible aligners
An aesthetic way to treat a wide range of bite defects. However, they are not omnipotent. Their main advantages are lower forces and generally higher comfort during treatment. The biggest advantage is easy teeth cleaning, as the aligners are removed before each meal and after eating it is always necessary to use a toothbrush – both on the teeth and on the aligners themselves. The aligners must be worn 22 hours a day.
Removable appliance – Temporary, removable correction.
During the period when the first milk teeth begin to be replaced by permanent teeth, removable braces can help with certain types of defects. For them to work well, it is necessary to be diligent and wear them as much as possible so that the problem can be solved as quickly as possible. They are definitely not just for nighttime use. A high level of motivation on the part of the young patient and consistent help from parents are essential. After treatment, the results are stabilized by nighttime maintenance, and all that remains is to wait for the other teeth to be replaced.

Can I choose which treatment I want?
During the consultation, we will be happy to discuss your preferences, but the final treatment will always be determined by the orthodontist, who will decide based on the best solution for your type of dental defect.
Do all teeth have to be healthy before braces can be fitted?
Yes, before starting orthodontic treatment, your teeth must be free of cavities, gum inflammation, or other complications. Your teeth must be treated and hygienically stable.
How long do braces need to be worn?
The length of treatment is individual and depends on the specific problem. On average, braces are worn for 1.5 to 2 years, but treatment may take longer for more complex defects. The patient’s cooperation and adherence to the orthodontist’s recommendations also play an important role.
How often should you visit the dentist for dental hygiene with braces?
Ideally, we recommend a visit every 3 months to maintain healthy teeth and gums. During orthodontic treatment, the size of the interdental spaces changes rapidly and cleaning becomes more difficult, so regular check-ups are particularly important.
Is it necessary to do anything after removing braces (retention)?
Yes. After the braces are removed, there is a so-called retention phase, which is necessary to maintain the results of the treatment. Removable or fixed retention appliances are used for this purpose to prevent unwanted tooth movement.
What does the insurance company contribute to?
The insurance company contributes to consultations and initial examinations and fully covers regular check-ups as part of orthodontic treatment for patients up to 22 years of age.
What is the difference between removable and fixed braces?
Removable braces are put on and taken off by the patient themselves – they are more commonly used in children during the mixed dentition period. Fixed braces are permanently attached to the teeth and exert constant pressure on the dental arch, enabling more precise and effective correction.
