Root canal cleaning (endodontics) is a procedure performed when the dental nerve is inflamed or dead. The aim is to remove infected tissue from inside the tooth, thoroughly disinfect the canals, and then seal them hermetically to prevent the inflammation from returning.
This treatment is necessary if the tooth hurts when biting, throbs, reacts to heat, or if a cyst or inflammatory focus appears around the root. Often, the nerve is already dead and the tooth may not hurt, but the inflammation is visible on an X-ray.
The tooth is numbed, and access to the root canal system is opened. The canals are gradually widened using special mechanical instruments and at the same time intensively rinsed with disinfectant solutions. We work here under magnification using a microscope or magnifying glasses loupes to ensure maximum precision in treatment. After thorough cleaning, the canals are filled with a biocompatible material and the tooth is closed with a temporary or permanent filling.
A properly treated root canal prevents the spread of infection, eliminates pain, and allows the tooth to be preserved. Endodontically treated teeth have a very good long-term prognosis when properly reconstructed.
Short-term sensitivity to when biting is common and usually subsides within a few days. We recommend taking care of the tooth until it is permanently restored (usually with a crown), because after endodontic treatment, the tooth is more fragile and prone to cracking.

Reendodontics is a repeat root canal treatment performed when the original endodontic treatment has failed or a new infection has occurred. The aim is to remove the inflammation, clean and reseal the canals so that the tooth can be preserved. The procedure is performed with maximum precision under a microscope.
