Dentistry for children
With us, visiting the dentist becomes a pleasant experience without bad memories.
You most often discuss with us
We take care of your children’s healthy smiles from their very first tooth through adolescence. We offer gentle preventive check-ups, stress-free treatment, fluoride application, fissure sealing, cavity treatment, and emergency care – all in a child-friendly, playful environment where young patients feel safe.
Premedication
Painless care without fear or pain. Oral administration of midazolam, which helps calm the child and allows for gentle treatment. Can be used in children over 2 years of age or weighing 10 kg or more.
Treatment with nitrous oxide
For the safe treatment of less cooperative children or for more extensive procedures, we use Baldus nitrous oxide sedation for greater comfort and painlessness. Can be used for children aged 3 years and older.
Treatment under general anesthesia
We also safely treat children who have limited ability to cooperate due to their health condition or age, including children with intellectual disabilities, autism, or other disadvantages.
Dental hygiene for children
We help children learn proper toothbrushing habits and prevent tooth decay. Dental hygiene is the foundation of a healthy smile from an early age.
Tooth decay treatment
Composite, glass ionomer fillings, or Hall crowns – we always tailor the choice of material to the child’s age, the extent of the decay, and the degree of cooperation.
Client reviews
Price list
We determine a detailed price and treatment plan based on an initial examination, evaluation of X-rays, and other diagnostic options, if necessary. A detailed price list is available at the reception desk of CLINIQ Dejvice / CLINIQ Dlouhá.
Initial examination for children
An initial children’s check-up is the first examination of a child by a dentist, during which the teeth, gums, and overall oral health are checked. The dentist explains the principles of proper care, caries prevention, and treatment options to the parents. The check-up helps to detect problems early and set up appropriate care for healthy tooth development.
Preventive checkup for a non-registered patient
A comprehensive examination of your teeth and gums. The examination is performed using a Carl Zeiss microscope or magnifying glasses.
Extraction of a temporary tooth
Tooth extraction is a procedure in which a tooth is removed from the jaw. It is performed when a tooth is severely damaged by decay, broken, or causing other problems. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, and after extraction, wound care is recommended to ensure proper healing without complications.
Treatment of a baby tooth
We perform treatments on primary teeth using magnification and a rubber dam to ensure maximum precision and a dry working field. The result is natural-looking, durable, and long-lasting, suitable for both visible and less visible areas of the dentition.
Silver application (SDF)
Silver application (SDF) is a quick and non-invasive method that stops both early and advanced tooth decay. The solution is applied directly to the affected area, significantly slowing down or completely stopping the decay. It is painless and particularly suitable for children or in cases where a traditional filling cannot be done immediately. The only disadvantage is that the treated area darkens, but this does not affect its function.
Sealing fissures
Sealing fissures is a preventive procedure in which deep grooves on molars are sealed with a thin layer of protective resin. This prevents plaque from accumulating in areas that are difficult to clean. This significantly reduces the risk of tooth decay. The procedure is quick, gentle, and painless.
Extended fissure sealing
Preventive fillings/extended sealing are used on teeth where the enamel in the fissure is already slightly damaged, but it is not yet a classic cavity. The groove is gently micro-invasively adjusted and filled with a small amount of filling material. This stabilizes the tooth and prevents further decay. It is a quick and gentle way to catch the problem at its very beginning.
Halls crown
The Hall crown is a stainless steel crown for children that can be placed on a decay-weakened temporary tooth without drilling or injections. The crown seals the tooth and stops further decay, as bacteria lose access to their food source. It is a quick, gentle, and well-tolerated treatment. It helps preserve the milk tooth until it is naturally replaced.
Space bar
A stainless steel space maintainer is used in children when a temporary tooth falls out or needs to be extracted prematurely. It holds the space for the future permanent tooth so that it has enough room to erupt properly. It is a simple, safe, and quick solution. It helps prevent improper tooth growth and future orthodontic problems.
General anesthesia
General anesthesia allows treatment to be performed in complete peace, as the patient sleeps throughout and is unaware of anything. It is suitable for more demanding procedures or where treatment under local anesthesia is not possible. The price quoted applies only to the anesthesiology part of the treatment.
Midazolam
Midazolam is a drug that keeps the patient calm and relaxed during treatment. It often makes the patient sleepy and unable to remember the procedure, while allowing them to breathe on their own.
Baldus nitrous oxide
Baldus is a modern system for administering nitrous oxide, which ensures maximum safety and precision during sedation. The patient remains calm and relaxed throughout the procedure, breathing independently while remaining conscious. The effect sets in quickly and wears off immediately after sedation ends. It is an ideal and very well-tolerated method, especially for children.
Your most frequently asked questions
Every smile has its own story – and its own questions. We have compiled answers to the questions we most often discuss with our clients’ parents – so that you always feel comfortable with us.
The ideal time to take your child to the dentist for the first time is around one year of age, or at the latest six months after their first tooth appears. The first visit is mainly preventive – the dentist will check that the teeth are developing correctly and advise parents on how to care for their child’s teeth. An early visit also helps the child get used to the dentist’s office environment and prevents later fears.
Yes, the presence of a parent during treatment is usually possible and welcome – especially for younger children, as it gives them peace of mind and reassurance. In some cases (e.g., more demanding procedures or treatment under anesthesia), the doctor will recommend what is best for the child. We always try to find a solution that respects the needs of both the young patient and their parents.
Yes, we treat even the youngest children. Gently and sensitively – through play, with maximum patience.
Yes, if necessary, treatment with Baldus nitrous oxide or Midazolam syrup is possible. For more complex procedures or for uncooperative children and children with disabilities, we also offer the option of treatment under analgesic sedation or general anesthesia – always after individual consultation. You can read more about sedation methods here.
Children should go for preventive checkups twice a year. Regular checkups allow us to detect any cavities or other defects in tooth development in a timely manner.
The best way to prepare your child is to talk about the dentist in a positive way, without scaring them or mentioning pain. Before the initial examination, you can read our e-book or article (link to the initial examination blog). It is important that your child is calm and feels safe.
After a tooth injury, visit your dentist as soon as possible. If an adult tooth has been knocked out, carefully find it and store it in milk or saliva. Baby teeth do not grow back, so it is important to seek treatment promptly. You can find more tips in our ebook [link].
Yes, these cavities are repaired because baby teeth play an important role in the development of teeth and jaws. Untreated cavities can cause pain, inflammation, or disrupt the development of permanent teeth.
Premedication is the administration of medication before treatment to help calm the child and reduce any pain or anxiety. It is used mainly in children who are very nervous or uncooperative, to make the procedure as pleasant and safe as possible.
If your child has cavities in their baby teeth, it is important to visit the dentist as soon as possible. Baby teeth are important too – they help your child eat and speak properly and keep space for their permanent teeth.
The first teeth usually start to erupt around the age of 6 months, but this can vary from child to child – in some children it can happen as early as around 4 months, in others as late as around 8 months. The lower incisors are most common.
